INVERTED TRIANGLE BODY SHAPE.
Do you have….
1. Shoulders - wide
2. Hips/thigh - slim
3. Bust – medium to large
4. Waist – large /undefined
Take a long ruler /measuring yard stick. Put one end of it at the joint of the
shoulder and let it fall down naturally.
Look in the mirror . What do you see? There is a gap between your yardstick and your hips, i.e. your hips are narrower than your shoulders.
Confirm your body shape as per the shape posted above.
Upper half body- wider
Lower half body – slim /narrow
There are two schools of thought.
1.Dress as per your body silhouette
2.Dress as per other shapes to counter your body shape for a balanced look.

Key: Take attention away from heavy shoulders and bigger waistline by reverse fit .
Emphasis: Draw attention to slimmer and longer legs.
Focal Point: Create interest in front above waist.
Illusion: Wider lower half body
Colour and Pattern
Lower half can be brighter, printed , bold enough to draw attention.
Upper half can be in darker shades , very tiny print (if at all), no horizontal lines, demure and subtle. No pockets and detailing .
Texture
Heavy texture, brocade, velvet, jute, linen can be used for the lower half body
Soft pliable, crepe or soft silk, polyester can be used for upper half body.
Lines and cuts.
Fuller circular cuts for the lower half body.
Soft curved line as per body shape for upper half body.
Waist:
Skirts and trousers with lower waistline can be worn.
Designs can be created under the waist.
Neckline/Shoulders
Create patterns and focal point in the center at neck line.
“No” Cold shoulder, square neck, boat neck.
“Yes” V shapes or narrow collars , deep U , front open.
Sleeve
Sleeves should be wider near wrist and tapered at the arm
Dress
Flare from waist /hip
Shirt
Fitted, Peplum
Trouser
Cigarette, straight, boot cut, boyfriend
Jacket/Coat
Length can be till widest part of hip, trapeze, clean cut on top
